Pre-diabetes is a serious health condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough yet to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes. Millions of people around the world about 1 in 3—have prediabetes and about 84% don’t know they have it.

Below are tips to balance your sugar level if you receive a prediabetes diagnosis.
Tip #1: Exercise
To help balance blood sugar, I recommend a minimum of 30 minutes per day of physical activity. Physical activity also helps support your heart, your inflammatory response, and your optimal weight.
Tip #2: Get enough Sleep
Try to get 7 to 8 hours of high-quality sleep per night. Stick to a schedule for going to bed and waking up.
Tip #3: Eat the Right Kind of Carbs
Choose more foods with a lower glycemic index. The glycemic index (GI) measures how quickly a carbohydrate-containing food will raise your blood sugar.
Foods with a high GI raise your blood sugar faster than foods with a medium or low GI. It’s best to choose foods that have a low or medium GI — beans, legumes, and non-starchy vegetables, a few starchy vegetables including sweet potatoes, and some fruits.
And make sure to avoid sugar-laden and processed foods such as white bread, pasta, cookies, crackers, and the like. Besides being unhealthy in general, they are high-glycemic index foods.
Tip #4: Control Your Stress Level
Stress plays a role in blood sugar imbalance. In addition, stress promotes weight gain and contributes to an improper inflammatory response. You might join a gentle yoga class, learn meditation or relaxation techniques, and look for ways to laugh every day.
